UQ Engineering Students Visit B&C Plastics
Bridging Academia and Industry
On Tuesday, we had the privilege of hosting a group of third-year Chemical Engineering students from The University of Queensland for an engaging session at B&C Plastics.
The visit began with a presentation from our CEO, Royston Kent, and Industrial Designer, Chiara Bortoli, who shared insights into the design and manufacturing processes we use to bring ideas to life through injection moulding.
Hands-On Learning in Action
Following the presentation, students were taken on a tour of our facility to see firsthand how products are designed, prototyped, and manufactured. This experience provided them with valuable exposure to the real-world application of their studies—something that can’t be learned in a lecture hall.
We believe strongly in the power of experiential learning. When students get the opportunity to see processes in action, it deepens their understanding and inspires them to think beyond theoretical frameworks.
A Valuable Partnership
Our collaboration with The University of Queensland has long been a cornerstone of innovation and shared growth. We extend a special thank you to Clement Matthew Chan and Professor Bronwyn Laycock for coordinating this visit and for their continued efforts to connect students with industry.
Looking Ahead
We hope this experience leaves a lasting impact on the students and inspires them to pursue creative, practical solutions in their future careers. At B&C Plastics, we’re committed to nurturing the next generation of engineers and helping them understand how theory becomes practice in Australia’s manufacturing sector.
