Partnering with Purpose: Salty Monkeys & B&C Plastics

Celebrating Indigenous Business Month

October is Indigenous Business Month—a time to recognise, support, and amplify the work of First Nations entrepreneurs who are shaping industries and driving change.

One of our favourite collaborations is with Dennis Fay, founder of Salty Monkeys, a Torres Strait-based business born from storytelling and now grounded in sustainability and innovation.

A Business Rooted in Culture and Purpose

Dennis started Salty Monkeys to share stories from his community through YouTube and Instagram. But after witnessing firsthand the plastic pollution impacting his ocean dives, Dennis made a powerful decision—to use his platform and creativity to help protect the environment he loves.

That decision led to something remarkable: recycled plastic dive fins, brought to life with stunning Indigenous artworks that reflect the cultural richness of his heritage and the land and sea he cares for.

Shared Vision, Shared Responsibility

While our partnership with Dennis and Salty Monkeys is still in its early stages, there’s already a strong synergy between us. We’re working together to explore solutions that combine recycled materials, functional design, and cultural storytelling—all while striving for a more sustainable and circular future.

We’re inspired by Dennis’ drive and the way he fuses culture, community, and conservation through his business. It’s the kind of innovation that not only tackles real-world challenges but also preserves and celebrates Indigenous identity.
