Supporting Mental Health at Work: R U OK Day 2024
At B&C Plastics, we were proud to stand alongside Australians nationwide for R U OK Day 2024—a powerful national movement focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
More Than Just a Morning Tea
We kicked off the day with a hearty breakfast including bacon and egg rolls, banana muffins, fresh fruit, and (of course) chocolate cake. But it wasn’t just about food—it was about connection.
Our team engaged in a light-hearted but meaningful activity: conversation starters, picked at random, sparked new discussions and laughter throughout the room. These simple prompts reminded us all that authentic, everyday conversations have the power to change lives.
A Touch of Yellow for a Brighter Future
To show our support, our team wore a splash of yellow—a colour that symbolises optimism, positivity, and support. We also ran a Yellow Raffle, adding a bit of fun and fundraising to the day while reinforcing our shared commitment to mental wellness.
Why Days Like R U OK Day Matter
In busy workplaces and industries like manufacturing, it's easy to overlook how someone’s really doing. But checking in regularly with those around you can make all the difference. At B&C Plastics, we believe creating a culture where people feel safe to speak up is essential—because mental health is just as important as physical safety.
“It doesn’t take much—just time, effort, and creativity—to make mental health awareness part of your workplace culture.”
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
Whether it’s a simple “How are you going?” or a shared breakfast with your team, R U OK Day reminds us that a single conversation can truly change a life. We’re proud to be part of that message.
