Learning in Action — UQ Students Visit B&C Plastics

UQ visiting B&C Plastics

Over the past two days, we had the pleasure of hosting two groups of bright, curious students from The University of Queensland, eager to explore the world of polymers, injection moulding, and toolmaking.

Accompanied by Dr Clement Matthew Chan, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UQ, the students brought thoughtful questions, strong engagement, and a clear passion for the industry — great to see firsthand.

Much of the conversation focused on our ongoing work with recycled and biodegradable polymers — an area that resonated deeply and sparked meaningful discussion.

With Royston Kent leading hands-on, show-and-tell sessions, students experienced how we bring ideas to life — from concept to tool to finished product — right here in our facility. Today’s group also had the benefit of insights from Adam Drinkwater, our Manufacturing Manager, who helped guide the tours and shared real-world factory knowledge.

Now in its second year, this partnership with UQ is part of our commitment to supporting the next generation of engineers, showing them where theory meets practice. Our collaboration with the university has already led to groundbreaking advancements in next-generation biopolymers, and it was a pleasure to give back to our community through this initiative.

We look forward to continuing this collaboration and showing what’s possible through local, innovative Australian manufacturing.
