Driving Sustainability in Logan’s Business Community

Embracing Sustainability, Together

This month, B&C Plastics proudly participated in the Sustainability In Action event, hosted by the Department of State Development and Infrastructure (DSDI) SEQ South Office, with support from Logan Chamber of Commerce and Logan City Council. Held at The Diggers Services Club, the event brought together Logan’s SMEs to explore sustainable business practices and prepare for a greener future.

A Powerful Opening

The event began with a moving Welcome to Country by Aunty Robyn Williams, Aboriginal Elder, who spoke passionately about involving First Nations knowledge in environmental stewardship. Her words reminded us of the deep and enduring connection to the land that can guide our approach to sustainability.

Keynotes That Inspire

Larissa Rose from GG Enviro delivered a keynote full of actionable insights, sharing practical ways businesses can embed sustainability into everyday operations. Councillor Miriam Stemp also took the stage to reinforce the importance of taking action now and preparing for the environmental and regulatory shifts ahead.

B&C’s Sustainability Journey

Our very own Royston Kent joined Larissa Rose for a fireside chat, offering a behind-the-scenes look at B&C’s ongoing sustainability journey. Royston shared:

  • The wins we’ve achieved through circular manufacturing

  • The challenges faced in transforming traditional practices

  • Our vision for the future, including innovative recycling initiatives

Valuable Support for Local Businesses

A big thank you to all the organisations and agencies that made the event possible, including:

  • DSDI, DRDMW, DESBT, AusIndustry, ASPIRE PL

  • Chamber of Commerce EcoBiz Program

Many of their programs and tools are free and designed to support SMEs just like us.

Always Evolving

At B&C Plastics, we believe that sustainability is a journey, not a destination. Events like this keep us motivated, informed, and connected to a broader network of businesses striving for better.

We’re proud to be part of a local business community that’s taking meaningful steps towards a more sustainable future — and we’re just getting started.
